Binding and Connection | LanEcho User Guide

Binding and Connection

The recording card must be bound to your Lansenger account before recordings can sync to your phone. This article covers the binding process, connection states, connection troubleshooting, and operations such as unbinding, erasing data, and restarting the device. It’s for first-time users and anyone switching devices.

Before You Bind

  1. Install the latest Lansenger app: find and open the “LanEcho” feature in “Workplace”.
  2. Confirm your organization’s licensing: LanEcho is an organization-licensed feature, and devices can’t be bound without a license. If you see “Binding failed. Please contact your organization administrator.”, ask your organization administrator to confirm the licensing status. If you see “Binding failed: the maximum number of devices has been reached. Please contact your organization administrator.”, your organization has hit its device limit — again, contact your administrator.
  3. Bring the device close to your phone: place the card next to your phone. A device that’s been idle for a while may be asleep — short-press the record button to wake it first.

Binding the Device

  1. Open “LanEcho”. If no device is bound, the page shows the unbound state — tap “Add Device”.
  2. The app checks Bluetooth permission: grant it via the system dialog if you haven’t already. With permission granted, the search begins and the page shows “Searching for Devices”.
  3. Discovered devices appear in a list showing the device icon, device name, and serial number. If several devices are found, swipe up and down to browse.
  4. Tap “Connect” next to your device to start binding.
  5. On success, a “Connected” dialog appears showing the device icon and battery level. Tap “Continue” to enter the recording list.

The binding is recorded on the server. Once bound, the device stays bound even if its Bluetooth connection to your phone drops.

Common messages when binding fails (for licensing-related messages, see “Before You Bind”):

Can’t Find the Device?

Connection States

The Device Management page and the home page show the device’s current connection state:

State Meaning Details
Not Connected No Bluetooth connection between the device and your phone The device icon on the home page is gray; the Device Management page shows a “Connect” button
Connecting A connection is being established The Device Management page shows “Connecting” with a loading icon
Connected Connection successful The device icon on the home page is green; the Device Management page shows battery info

Manual Connection and Auto-Reconnect

Troubleshooting Connection Failures

If the connection fails or gets stuck on “Connecting”, work through these steps in order:

  1. Bring the device close to your phone, away from obstructions and signal interference.
  2. Short-press the record button on the device to wake it — it may be in sleep or deep sleep.
  3. Check that Bluetooth is on in your phone’s system settings and that Lansenger has Bluetooth permission.
  4. If the connection takes more than 30 seconds, a timeout prompt appears. Tap “Reconnect” or “Retry” in the prompt to try again.
  5. If repeated attempts fail, use “Restart Device” on the Device Management page and try again.

Device Says “Already Connected”

A recording card can only stay connected to one phone at a time. If another phone is already connected, you’ll see “Already Connected” when you try. Disconnect from the other phone or quit the related app there first, then connect again. If the device is bound to another account, its previous user must unbind it first — otherwise binding fails with “Device binding failed. Please unbind first and try again.”

Unbinding the Device

Unbinding removes the link between the card and your account. Recording files on the device are not erased:

  1. Go to the “Device Management” page (via the “···” at the top right of the LanEcho home page or “My Device”).
  2. Tap “Unbind Device” at the bottom of the page.
  3. In the confirmation dialog “Unbinding the device will disable recording and syncing. Continue?”, tap “Continue”.
  4. Once unbound, you return to the unbound state page. Recordings already synced to your phone are unaffected.

You can’t unbind while recording or syncing: tapping “Unbind Device” shows “Recording in progress. Please try again later.” or “Syncing in progress. Please try again later.” Wait until the recording or sync finishes.

Erase Data and Unbind Device

Before handing the device to someone else or retiring it, erase all recordings on it and then unbind:

  1. Go to the “Device Management” page and tap “Erase Data and Unbind Device”.
  2. In the confirmation dialog “All files on the device will be cleared and unbound. Continue?”, tap “Continue”.
  3. The page shows “Processing” while the system deletes every recording file on the device and then unbinds it.

If file deletion fails, you’ll see “Some files could not be deleted. Please try again.” — in that case the device is not unbound, so try again. Before you start, make sure any recordings you want to keep have been synced to your phone.

Restarting the Device

If the device is unresponsive or the connection misbehaves, try a restart:

  1. Go to the “Device Management” page and tap “Restart Device”.
  2. In the confirmation dialog “The device will restart. Continue?”, tap “Continue”.
  3. On success, you’ll see “Device restarted”, and the device reconnects to your phone automatically. On failure, you’ll see “Failed to restart. Please try again.”

“Unbind Device”, “Erase Data and Unbind Device”, and “Restart Device” are unavailable in the following states — tapping them only shows the reason: Bluetooth disconnected (“Bluetooth is disconnected. Connect the device and try again.”), recording in progress, syncing in progress, firmware upgrade in progress, or network error. Follow the prompt and try again.
