Tags, Favorites, and Search | LanEcho User Guide

Tags, Favorites, and Search

As recordings pile up, finding the right one fast matters more than recording it. LanEcho offers three ways to stay organized: tags group recordings by project or scenario, Favorites pins the important ones, and search locates keywords across titles, Transcripts, Smart Summaries, and Chapters. Used together, they keep any recording at your fingertips. Tags and search are on by default — no setup needed.

Tags

The Home Page Tab Bar

The top of the LanEcho home page shows all your tags as tabs. Tap a tag to view every recording under it as a list:

Tagging a Recording

You can adjust a recording’s tags anytime — open the dialog again to add or remove checks:

  1. In the home page recording list, long-press the target recording to open the action menu (“Favorite” on top, “Set Tags” below).
  2. Choose “Set Tags” to open the tag picker. Tags the recording already has are pre-checked; with none yet, it shows “No tags yet”.
  3. Tap tags to check them — multi-select is supported. Tags appear as buttons and scroll vertically when numerous.
  4. If nothing fits, tap “New Tag” to create one on the spot — it’s checked automatically on creation, and your earlier checks stay checked.
  5. Tap “OK” to save and the recording joins the selected tags; tap “Cancel” to discard.

For example, tag a “Shared With Me” recording with “Lansenger” and “LanEcho”, and it shows up under all three tabs: “Shared With Me”, “Lansenger”, and “LanEcho”.

Creating Tags

Managing Tags

On the home page, tap the expand button in the tab bar, then tap “Manage” in the pop-up card to open the tag management page (the card also offers “Set Tags” and “New Tag” entries). The page lists system tags, your custom tags, and the “New Tag” entry in order:

If the sharer revokes your access to a “Shared With Me” recording, it disappears from every tag of yours — but the tags you created remain.

Favorites

Favorites is for important recordings you’ll revisit often — meeting minutes to write up, interviews where client asks need double-checking:

  1. In the home page recording list, long-press the target recording to open the action menu.
  2. Choose “Favorite” — you’ll see “Added to Favorites”.
  3. Open the “Favorites” tab on the home page to see everything you’ve favorited in one place.

Favorites is really a built-in system tag: a favorited recording stays in its original tags and simply gains the “Favorites” tag on top — your other organization methods are unaffected.

Search goes beyond recording titles — the body text of Transcripts, Smart Summaries, and Chapters is searched too, and tag filters narrow results down fast:

  1. Tap the search icon at the top right of the home page to open search.
  2. Type a keyword in the search box (placeholder: “Search”). The system matches the keyword exactly and returns results in real time. Keywords run 1–200 characters — you can’t type beyond that.
  3. To narrow the scope, tap “Tag Filter” to expand all tags: tap a tag to highlight and select it, tap again to deselect, and multi-select works. Tap anywhere blank or tap the filter button again to filter results by the selected tags.
  4. Tap a recording in the results to open its details; tap “Cancel” or “Back” to return to the home page.

Search scope and result display rules:

For sharing and permission management, see “Sharing and Permission Management”. For generating Transcripts and summaries, see “Transcript and Playback” and “Smart Summary and Chapters”.
