Quick Start | LanEcho User Guide

Quick Start

This guide walks you through a complete LanEcho workflow: getting to know the recording card, binding the device, making your first recording, syncing it to your phone, and generating a Transcript and Smart Summary. It’s designed for new users who have just received their card and takes about ten minutes.

Before you begin, make sure you have the latest Lansenger app installed and that your organization has activated LanEcho (see “Before You Start” in “LanEcho Overview”).

Get to Know the Recording Card

The LanEcho recording card has a microphone port, a record button, an indicator light, and a charging port. With no screen, every operation goes through the single record button, and the device reports its status through vibration and the indicator light:

Indicator light colors and what they mean:

Scenario Light Meaning
Battery check Red light, off after 5s Battery below 10% — please charge soon
Battery check White light, off after 5s Battery at or above 10%
Recording Blue light steady on Recording in progress
Charging Red light flashing Charging, battery below 10%
Charging Green light flashing Charging, battery above 10%
Charging Green light steady on Fully charged (battery 100%)

To save power, the device sleeps automatically:

The card attaches magnetically to the back of your phone. MagSafe-compatible iPhones and cases attach directly without the magnetic ring; other phones need the included magnetic ring.

Note: The magnetic ring is difficult to remove after being pasted on the phone. Please confirm the position before pasting.

Step 1: Bind the Device

  1. Open the “LanEcho” feature from “Workplace” in Lansenger. If no device is bound yet, tap “Add Device” (if you’ve bound a device before, you’ll go straight to the recording list).
  2. Grant Bluetooth permission when prompted. The app starts searching for nearby cards and searches for up to 60 seconds.
  3. If your device isn’t found, short-press the record button on the device to wake it and wait for the search to retry.
  4. Find your card in the list of discovered devices (identified by its icon, name, and serial number) and tap “Connect”.
  5. When you see “Connected”, binding is complete. Tap “Continue” to enter the recording list.

For help with binding failures, undiscoverable devices, or “Already Connected” messages, see “Binding and Connection”.

Step 2: Make Your First Recording

  1. On the device, press and hold the record button for 1.5 seconds — the device vibrates once and the blue light stays on, and recording begins.
  2. While recording, short-press the record button to drop a mark on anything important.
  3. To finish, press and hold the record button for 1.5 seconds again — the device vibrates twice, the blue light turns off, and the recording is saved on the device.

Recording happens entirely on the device — no phone or network needed. Just sync everything to your phone when you’re done. Recordings are named by their start date and time by default (for example, 20260129_173449.asr means the recording started at 17:34:49 on January 29, 2026), and you can rename them in the recording details after syncing. You can also control recording from the Remote on the “My Device” page in Lansenger — see “Recording”.

Step 3: Sync to Your Phone

  1. Keep the device near your phone and open “LanEcho” — the device connects automatically.
  2. The “Auto-Sync After Device Connection” switch is on by default, so new recordings on the device sync to your phone as soon as it connects.
  3. The status bar at the top of the home page shows sync progress (for example, “Syncing 1/3”). Tap it to expand the list of syncing and pending recordings. Synced recordings appear in “My Recordings”.
  4. Recordings synced to your phone upload automatically to your organization’s cloud. Once uploaded, sign in on any other device with the same account and you’ll see them there too.

When many files are waiting to sync, turn on Flash Transfer — your phone connects directly to the device’s Wi-Fi hotspot and syncs 10x faster. For the full picture, see “Sync and Upload”.

Step 4: Generate a Transcript

  1. Tap the recording you just synced in the recording list to open its details.
  2. On the “Transcript” tab, tap “Generate Transcript”.
  3. The page shows “Generating transcript. You will be notified when done.” — you’re free to leave the page at any time.
  4. When it’s done, you’ll get a notification from the “LanEcho” service account. Tap it to view the Transcript, segmented by speaker.

For browsing and playback tips, see “Transcript and Playback”.

Step 5: Generate a Smart Summary

  1. For a more accurate summary, first rename the speakers to their real names on the “Transcript” tab — see “Editing Speaker Names”.
  2. Go to the “Smart Summary” tab and tap “Generate Smart Summary”.
  3. In the dialog, choose a summary template (8 built-in templates: Meeting Minutes, Keynote Speech, Daily Communication, Study & Lecture Notes, Personal Affairs, Client Interview, Interview Report, and Visit & Tour), then tap “Continue”.
  4. You’ll get a notification when it’s ready. The summary appears together with automatically generated “Chapters”, so even long recordings are easy to navigate.

For template selection and chapters, see “Smart Summary and Chapters”.

Try It Out with the Sample Recording

On first use, a “Sample Recording” is waiting at the bottom of your recording list. Before you have recordings of your own, use it to try out the Transcript, Smart Summary, sharing, and export features — then start for real once you know the flow.

After your first recording, we recommend continuing with “Binding and Connection” and “Recording” to learn more about device management and recording options.
