Recording

LanEcho offers two ways to record: blind operation with the button on the card, or remote control from the “My Device” Remote in Lansenger. This article covers both methods, marking and photos while recording, and the floating recording status bubble. Read it before your first real recording.

Method 1: Recording with the Device Button

No screen, no phone needed — the single record button does it all, and recordings are stored locally on the device:

  1. Start recording: press and hold the record button for 1.5 seconds — the device vibrates once and the blue light stays on, and recording begins.
  2. Mark a highlight: while recording, short-press the record button to mark the current moment.
  3. Stop recording: press and hold the record button for 1.5 seconds again — the device vibrates twice, the blue light turns off, and the recording is saved on the device.

When the device runs out of storage, you’ll get a storage-full notice: recording stops and what’s been captured is saved. Sync and clear recording files from the device in good time — you can check capacity on the Device Management page (see “Device Info and Firmware Upgrade”).

Method 2: Recording with the In-App Remote

With the device connected to your phone, tap the device button on the LanEcho home page to open “My Device”. The “Remote” tab shows by default, displaying the device name and battery level, with a “Start Recording” button and a “Real-Time Transcription” toggle.

When the device isn’t connected, tapping the device entry on the home page opens the Device Management page instead of the Remote. Connect the device first — see “Binding and Connection”.

On the Remote page, watch for these status notices:

“Start Recording”

Tap “Start Recording” to start recording on the device remotely; the page enters the recording state. This is ideal when your phone is at hand and you want to watch and operate as you go — marking moments and taking photos mid-meeting, for example.

“Real-Time Transcription”

“Real-Time Transcription” is off by default and can be turned on before you start recording (it can’t be turned on mid-recording). Once on, the recording syncs to your phone in real time and is transcribed as you speak:

Status changes during Real-Time Transcription:

Real-Time Transcription is enabled and configured centrally by your organization. If you don’t see the “Real-Time Transcription” toggle in the Remote, contact your organization administrator.

While Recording

Once recording starts from the Remote, a live audio waveform and the recording timer (hh:mm:ss) appear in the middle of the page, with four buttons at the bottom:

Whichever method you use, recordings are named by their start date and time by default (for example, 20260129_173449.asr means the recording started at 17:34:49 on January 29, 2026), and you can rename them in the recording details after syncing.

Floating Recording Status Bubble

When you switch to other parts of Lansenger mid-recording — replying to messages, joining a meeting — a floating status bubble stays at the edge of the screen:

In addition, on the LanEcho home page, a connected device that’s recording shows a blinking red dot (alternating dark and light red) on its icon — you can confirm recording is underway without opening the Remote.

Interruptions and Recovery

Once recordings sync to your phone, see “Sync and Upload” for uploading to the cloud and faster transfers; for transcription and playback, see “Transcript and Playback”.
