Device Info and Firmware Upgrade
The Device Management page is your single entry point for checking the card’s status and maintaining it: device name, serial number, capacity, battery, and firmware version all live here, along with Firmware Upgrade and the Device User Manual. Read this when you want to check on your device or have received an upgrade prompt.
Opening the Device Management Page
- On the LanEcho home page or the “My Device” page, tap “···” at the top right to open the “Device Management” page.
- When the device isn’t connected, tapping the device entry on the home page also takes you straight to the Device Management page.
Viewing Device Info
The Device Management page shows:
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Device thumbnail | Shows the product image for your device model |
| Device Name | The recording card’s device name |
| Serial Number | The device’s unique identifier — provide it for after-sales support and troubleshooting |
| Capacity | Used / total device storage (for example, 1.32GB / 64 GB) |
| Firmware Version | The device’s current firmware version |
| Battery | Shown only in the “Connected” state — see below |
When “Not Connected”, “Not Connected” appears under the thumbnail and no battery info is shown. Device info such as capacity and firmware version is read and refreshed once the device connects.
Battery Display and Low-Battery Alerts
- When the device is connected, a battery bar and percentage appear under the thumbnail, and the battery icon changes by level so you can judge the remaining battery life at a glance.
- When the battery drops below 10%, you’ll see “The battery of the device is less than 10%, please charge it in time.” A low-battery icon also appears on the “My Device” Remote page — charge the device soon.
- While charging, the indicator light shows progress: red flashing means the battery is below 10%, green flashing means above 10%, and steady green means fully charged.
Device User Manual
The “Device User Manual” entry sits at the top right of the Device Management page. Tap it to review the card’s button operations, indicator light meanings, charging, and sleep behavior — no paper manual to carry around.
Capacity Tips
- Device storage is limited (see capacity on the Device Management page), so check you have enough free space before recording. If storage runs out mid-recording, the device stops recording and saves what’s been captured.
- Day to day, clear synced recordings from the “Files” tab in “My Device”, or turn on “Auto-Delete After Sync” to free up device space. See “Sync and Upload”.
Firmware Upgrade
New firmware is released centrally by your organization to fix issues and improve the device experience. The “Firmware Upgrade” entry sits below the firmware version on the Device Management page and shows the current firmware version by default.
Checking for Updates
- Automatic check: entering the Device Management page checks for updates automatically. When a new version is found, a red dot with the new version number appears to the right of “Firmware Upgrade”.
- Manual check: tap “Firmware Upgrade” to check yourself. Without a network connection you’ll see “Network error. Please try again later.”; if you’re already up to date, you’ll see “You’re on the latest version”.
Starting the Upgrade
- When a new version is detected, tap “Firmware Upgrade” to open the “Firmware Update Available” confirmation page, which shows the new version number and what’s changed.
- Tap “Update Now” to begin. Tap “Cancel” to keep the red-dot reminder and upgrade later.
- If the device is recording, you’ll see “Recording in progress. Please finish recording first.” — stop the recording before upgrading.
During the Upgrade
The upgrade runs in two stages, with a live progress bar:
- Downloading firmware (0–50%): the firmware package downloads to your phone.
- Updating firmware (50–100%): the firmware is written to the device.
Don’t disconnect the device or start recording during the upgrade. Versions that include a controller update restart the device automatically when done — please be patient.
When the Upgrade Finishes
- Without a controller update: a dialog says “Update complete!” with the new version number — tap “Done”.
- With a controller update: you return to the LanEcho home page with the message “Firmware update complete. Please wait for the device to restart and reconnect automatically.” The device reconnects by itself after restarting — nothing for you to do.
After the upgrade, the next time you enter the LanEcho home page the app reports the new version to the server and checks for updates again; if you’re up to date, the red dot and new-version notice disappear automatically.
If the Upgrade Fails
A failure dialog says “Unable to Update” with an explanation by cause. Common causes:
- “Update failed: MD5 verification failed”: the firmware package failed verification.
- “Update failed: firmware file parsing error”: the firmware file is malformed.
- “Update failed: file write error”: the device failed to write the file.
- “Update failed. Please try again later.”: the device isn’t ready, or another error occurred.
Tap “Retry” to run the upgrade again, or “Got it” to close the dialog — the red dot and new version number stay, so you can upgrade later. If failures persist, keep the device well charged and close to your phone, then retry.
While a firmware upgrade is in progress, unbinding, erasing data, and restarting are unavailable — tapping them shows “Firmware upgrade in progress. Please try again later.”
For binding, unbinding, and connection troubleshooting, see “Binding and Connection”. Check you have enough capacity before syncing — sync policies are covered in “Sync and Upload”.
